In his day-to-day work as managing attorney of the Simpson Law Group, Tom provides strategic direction to his team of highly experienced attorneys to ensure that each client is handled with compassion, commitment, and competence. With a family law practice that spans almost four decades, Tom is known to be an experienced litigator and “problem-solver” who settles the vast majority of the firm’s cases. His experience in child custody matters, child and spousal support modification and enforcement, complex property issues, and mediated agreements rank him among Southern California’s best family law attorneys.

In addition to litigating and mediating hundreds of cases in Family Law courts through the years, Tom has qualified as an expert witness for plaintiff and defense work, having completed more than 10 Superior Court legal malpractice cases involving complex issues of Family Law. Presently, Tom volunteers as a Daily Settlement Officer and Mediator for the Family Law Department of the Los Angeles Superior Court, one of many pro bono affiliations he provides to the underserved in Greater Los Angeles.

Tom has developed a special expertise in prosecuting and defending issues of breach of fiduciary duty, an ever-expanding area of California Family Law. In 2006, he won his client the then-highest award in Los Angeles County history for a breach of fiduciary duty case, in the amount of over $3 million dollars.

Tom was admitted to practice law in the State of California in 1974 and additionally, before the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court, Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
